à What is vision system?
The vision system is the future orientation all staff are willing to strive for, specified by the internal members of organization, and acquires the conforming consensus of members through the team discussion. Combing the individual value with the organization purpose, it aims at the establishment of team, achievement of organization success and promotion of optimizing development of organization power which are by means of vision shaping, vision communication, vision implantation and vision measurement.
 

The vision system includes:
 

»  Mission: who are we? The enterprise mission is the meaning and purpose which the enterprises exists for, which is different from the benefits written in financial statement. Like Merck's “help people who fight with diseases” and GE's “flourish the life by technology and innovation” are the representative examples to show the purpose of enterprise existence.

»  Vision: Where are we going? It includes the grand purpose of enterprise prospect between 5 to 10 years in future and its vivid description, which directs the development orientation for enterprise staff and supplies the basis framework of stimulation. 

»  Core Value & Conduct Code: The enterprise value conception is the fundamental and persisting belief of enterprise, is the consensus of organization members, the value judgment standard and practice principle for the organization members in daily work. Wal-Mart’s “Customer Satisfaction” and P&G's “Quality first and integrate enterprise” are the representative examples to show the enterprise value conceptions.

 

à Why we need vision system?
Vision exerts the function of pushing all members of organization to own the same purpose by giving encouragement. Generally speaking, most enterprise visions rely on the prospective plan or innovative purpose as the guideline and principle of enterprise development. Many brilliant enterprises share one quality, that is, to emphasize the importance of enterprise vision. Because only the emphasis of vision can effectively train and encourage all members of organization, stimulate the individual potential, and encourage the staff to make endless efforts, increase the productivity of organization, thus fulfill the purpose of customer satisfaction.

 

In <Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies>, James C. Collins divides the enterprises into two types.


The first type is the clear visionary company which successfully roots the vision among the members. Most of these companies receive  people’s respect with leading rankings in the industry, such as 3M, Boeing and GE.


The second type is non-clear visionary company or company has no clear business concept, or the company vision couldn't root among the staff. These companies definitely couldn't enter the worldwide list.

 

Collins found that the visionary company realizes the long-term investment return (share price) being 15 times of the average market return.

 

à What position does vision system lies in the management system?

Vision system locates at the core position of the whole management system. The mission has no time limit, while vision is confined to time, which gives the vitality of mission at each period and instills it with stimulating power.

 

Strategies have no right or wrong, but the strategies not conforming to vision can't acquire the agreement of relevant beneficiary, also can not be in accordance with the competitive environment of enterprise. The procedure and organization symbolize the coordination and cooperation in the horizontal and vertical way to support the strategies and each management function contributes to the implementation of strategies as tools.

 

à How to build vision system?
With the restricted establishment, vision system is based on the analysis of external environment, internal condition and relevant beneficiary rather than being created by imaginary.


Enterprise vision system isn't the exclusive property of enterprise supervisor but all members of enterprise have the right to join in the design of vision and achieve the consensus by communication. Through the process of specifying vision, the enterprise is endowed with more competitive power by developing more values of vision.
 

The content and implementation method of enterprise vision system is not clearly regulated at the initial period of enterprise establishment, which also gives no best standard answer. Enterprise vision system purposes to regulate and strengthen the business activity by adopting accurate concepts and integrative ideas rather than depending on its content. Any enterprise can regulate “Create electronic product by using high-tech technology so as to make contribution to society and human” as the similar enterprise mission, but the key problem is how profound the mission is and whether it can be carried out.

 

à How to assure the vision system works?
The enterprises owning the vision system of enterprise are numerous, but why are there a few limited successful enterprises? Because too many vision systems just exert superficial and limited influence on the affairs, and then gradually fade until be forgotten by people. They are unable to take deep roots in the organization.

 

The secrets of successful enterprise lie in that they successfully establish a system to transfer the vision and value concept into the strategy and practice, through individual purpose, evaluation and reward and penalty finally achieves the integration of the above process into member experiences.
